ABOUT

HELLO! I’m Fanni and from as far back as I can remember I have always been creative. When I was 6, I used to meticulously colour in my character books, making sure to always stay within the lines. I’d leave the colouring-in of skin tones until last as with my vivid imagination I believed this would then bring these wonderful characters to life.

At the age of 11, I distinctly remember drawing a vibrant multi-coloured Cheshire cat with oil pastels on black paper, that my mother proudly displayed in her office. When she got home from work in the evenings she would tell me all the lovely comments it received and how it brought a smile to the face of all who saw it. Hearing this made me smile from ear to ear… yes, a bit like a Cheshire cat too I guess! Ha! But in all seriousness, the emotion of sheer joy and happiness is what I wish for all my clients to experience when they work with me.

Growing up, we moved around the world from Hungary to South Africa and then onto New Zealand and I was seriously considering a career in travel and tourism, but my destiny obviously had other plans. It was in my last year of high school when I scored a 90% on my final art & design exam that my then teacher strongly insisted I enter the world of design.

And so, in my 3rd year at University I fell in love with magazines. My life changed when I signed up for a publishing elective with a small group of 4th year students. From then on I began making all sorts of little books and zines just to get my fix. A year later I graduated with a bachelors degree, passing with first-class Honours and my career path was set.

Now, as an experienced creative professional I have enjoyed a successful freelancing career for over 10 years. During this time I’ve had the opportunity to work with some of the most respected magazine publishers and clients from around the world. My experience includes working as an art director/editor, designer, art worker, picture researcher and illustrator as well as managing my own limited company, Superfly Creative.

I am also a professional photographer at fanniwilliams.com and have my own creative publication called Dashing magazine. And creative life style blog called Oh My Superfly!

I am very grateful to all those who have helped shape my career for I am truly lucky to say I love what I do and I wouldn’t change it for the world.
